BLOGOSPHERE'S BIG YEAR. Hugh Hewitt points to an article in World Magazine entitled "Year of the Blog," providing some discussion of this important and fast-growing medium. Old Media dominance has already been eroded by the top bloggers. (Thanks in no small part to many recent failures of Old Media: CNN's admission that it did not report about many of the goings-on in the Middle East in order to protect its contacts in the region; the complete lack of coverage given to the Swift Boat Vets' campaign; Rathergate; CBS' botched plan to air an erroneous, last-minute story about missing munitions in Iraq, etc.)

I applaud World for taking the blogosphere seriously.

THE BOMB DROPS TODAY. U2's new album, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, is out TODAY. I *just* went across the street to Sam Goody's to pick up my copy for $11.99. (Had to emphatically refuse the subscription to Entertainment Weekly yet again. I've managed to be polite in my refusals on that one so far.)

There is a cool review of the album by Kenneth Tanner over at National Review Online.

I'm listening to the new album as I type this, and so far so good. I'll probably post an Amazon review in the next day or so.
